Here are the tournament lakes that Androscoggin Bassmasters have picked at the tournament draw and will fish in 2012.

Is the Alabama Rig legal in Maine?

Is the Alabama Rig legal in Maine and if it is will your club or open tournament ban it? Here is the answer straight from the Maine IF&W web site.

The Alabama rig is legal to use in Maine with the following stipulations, there can only be a single baited hook on the line, the other lines can have artificial lures but you can only have a single baited hook. If used strictly for artificial lures you can have as many lures on a line as desired. Read more FAQ's on the IF&W site.

Garrison Surprises Deering With Sponsorship Deals

Our January club meeting was held at a special location arranged by FLW angler Troy Garrison to surprise L/A Jr Bassmasters and Androscoggin Bassmaster club member, Nick Deering with sponsorship deals that he's received from both Cocoons and Z-Man. Nick's Dad Louis, and his Sister Kait were both present with the World Championship cup that Nick won in 2011. Charlie Wilson was also in attendance to take pictures of Nick and Troy with the cup and tournament jerseys and hats on. Nick will receive his choice of two free pair of Cocoons eyewear for the 2012 season and his choice of $250.00 worth of Z-Man products. This is all in addition to the $1000 he received from his Berkley endorsement. Great job Nick...congratulations!

Three Members Advance To B.A.S.S. Federation Eastern Divisional

Keith Poulin and John Volkernick will advance to the B.A.S.S. Eastern Divisonal Tournament on the Mystic/Charles River in Medford, MA next September after finishing in the top 12 in the Maine B.A.S.S. Federation Nation State Fish Off Tournament held on Cobbossee Lake Sept 10-11.

Poulin finished 5th with 29.48 lbs and Volkernick 10th with 26.49 lbs. Bruce Wood caught the big smallmouth on Day 2 at 3.21 lbs. A great showing by all the club members that competed, Androscoggin as a club finished in 2nd in the club competition! The official results can be found at mebass.com. Also advancing as a Junior State Team member is Brian Volkernick who won the Maine Junior State Championship on Tacoma Lakes on August 27. Good luck to Keith, John, & Brian next Sept.
